It is important to maintain your film camera regularly so that it works as it should and the pictures look good. In an annual service performed by a professional camera technician, we inspect your camera’s key components and functions and clean it thoroughly. This annual service also includes maintenance for one film-camera lens together with the camera itself. Note: This service package is intended for 35mm film cameras. Light-seal material can crumble or turn into sticky residue as it ages. When this happens, it loses its ability to block light, which may cause film leaks and ruined photos. During the annual service, we check the condition of your camera’s light seals and replace them if necessary.
Shutter speeds can sometimes drift, preventing you from achieving the exposure you intend. Checking shutter speeds is an essential part of our annual service. If needed, the shutter can be adjusted or given separate maintenance, for which we can provide a cost estimate.
The performance of the exposure meter may change over time, leading to inaccurate readings and poor camera settings. Inspecting the exposure meter is also part of our annual service, as it may require maintenance or calibration.
Checking the battery voltage and the cleanliness of the battery compartment is included in the service. Any necessary repairs due to battery leakage are also covered.
In SLR cameras, the mirror damper can deteriorate with age and may need replacement, so inspecting it is part of the annual service.
A thorough cleaning ensures good image quality and comfortable use. General dirt buildup can make buttons and dials harder to operate. Dust and debris in the film chamber can scratch the film, which will show up in your photos. Additionally, careful cleaning of the lens surfaces ultimately ensures the technical quality of your images.
NOTE: Work and cleaning that requires disassembly of the lens, as well as work with measuring equipment, according to a separate cost estimate.
